History of National Cherry Popsicle Day and How to Celebrate/ Observe It
National Cherry Popsicle Day is a food holiday that celebrates the delicious icy treat! This frozen treat is made with cherries, sugar, water, and sometimes other fruit flavors. The popsicle was invented in 1905 by 11 year old Frank Epperson. He accidentally left a mixture of soda powder, water, and a stick in his porch overnight, and woke up to find a frozen treat! He named it the “Eppsicle”, and it wasn’t until 1923 that he applied for a patent and the name was changed to “Popsicle”.
Today, there are many different flavors and variations of popsicles, but the cherry remains a classic favorite. On National Cherry Popsicle Day, we celebrate this delicious treat by enjoying a cold popsicle or two!
