Christmas in Belize is a time for family, friends, and feasting. The holidays begin on December 16th with “Las Posadas”, a nine-day celebration leading up to Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, a large feast is prepared and shared. The meal often includes tamales, rice, beans, chicken, pork, and various fruits and vegetables.
After the feast, it is tradition to attend Midnight Mass. On Christmas Day, children receive gifts from Santa Claus and the day is spent visiting with family and friends.
