History of Eid al-Adha in Comoros and How to Celebrate/ Observe It
Eid al-Adha is a Muslim holiday that commemorates the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. It is also known as the “Festival of the Sacrifice”. The holiday lasts for four days and is celebrated by Muslims all over the world.
On the first day of Eid al-Adha, Muslims wake up early and perform a special prayer called the Eid prayer. After the prayer, they exchange gifts and visit family and friends. On the second day, Muslims slaughter an animal (usually a sheep or a goat) and divide the meat into three parts. One third of the meat is given to the poor and needy, one third is given to friends and relatives, and the last third is kept for the family to eat.
