History of National Irish Coffee Day and How to Celebrate/ Observe It
National Irish Coffee Day is a holiday celebrated on January 25th. It is a day to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee with a bit of Irish cream added in. This holiday is the perfect excuse to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee with friends or family.
Irish coffee was invented in the 1940s by a bartender at the famous San Francisco restaurant, The Buena Vista Café. The story goes that a group of airline passengers came into the café one cold winter night, looking for something to warm them up. The bartender, Joe Sheridan, decided to make them a special coffee drink using Irish whiskey, sugar, and cream. The passengers loved it, and the Irish coffee was born!
Now, Irish coffee is enjoyed all over the world. On National Irish Coffee Day, take the time to make yourself a nice cup of coffee, add a little Irish whiskey (or Bailey’s Irish Cream), and enjoy!
