History of Festivus and How to Celebrate/ Observe It

Festivus is a secular holiday celebrated on December 23rd. It was created by writer Dan O’Keefe and popularized by his son, comedian Dan Harmon. The holiday is meant to be a more light-hearted alternative to the commercialism and consumerism of Christmas. Festivus traditions include the “Festivus Pole” (a bare aluminum pole), the “Airing of Grievances” (where you tell others how they’ve disappointed you over the past year), and the “Feats of Strength” (where you wrestle another person until you pin them).
