In Canada, All Souls’ Day is a day to remember and pray for all of the faithful departed. The day is also known as the Day of the Dead, and is observed in many Catholic and Orthodox churches. On this day, the souls of the dead are believed to be released from Purgatory and allowed to enter Heaven. Families often visit cemeteries to pray for their deceased loved ones, and may leave flowers or other gifts at their gravesites.
