Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin is the current Sultan of Terengganu in Malaysia. He was crowned on 15 May 1999, succeeding his father, Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah. The anniversary of his coronation is celebrated annually on 15 May.

The Coronation of the Sultan of Terengganu is a grand and lavish affair which is attended by dignitaries from all over Malaysia as well as other countries. On this day, the Sultan will don his ceremonial robes and headgear, and be carried in a palanquin to the Istana Maziah, the ceremonial palace in Kuala Terengganu. There, he will be greeted by the Tuanku Raja, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King of Malaysia) and other members of the royal family.

After the formal greetings, the Sultan will proceed to the Balai Singgahsana Indera Kayangan, the throne room of the palace, where he will be seated on the throne. The coronation ceremony will then begin with the reading of the proclamation of his ascension to the throne, followed by the swearing-in of the oath of office. This will be followed by the installation of the royal regalia, which includes the crown, sword and sceptre.

Once the coronation ceremony is over, the Sultan will proceed to the balcony of the palace to address the people. In his speech, he will reaffirm his commitment to serve the people of Terengganu and Malaysia. The anniversary of the Sultan’s coronation is a public holiday in the state of Terengganu.
