Cassinga Day is a national holiday in Namibia, observed on 4 August. It commemorates the 1978 South African Air Force bombing of the Cassinga refugee camp in Angola, which killed more than 600 people, mostly women and children. The camp was set up by the Angolan government to house refugees from the Namibian War of Independence (1966-1989).
