In Colombia, the Day of the Epiphany is celebrated on January 6th. This day commemorates the arrival of the Three Kings to Bethlehem to visit the baby Jesus. In many Colombian homes, a special Nativity scene is set up and a star is placed above the stable to represent the star of Bethlehem. On the night of January 5th, children leave their shoes out in front of the stable and the Three Kings (played by family members or friends) fill them with candy and small gifts. In some towns, a parade is held on the morning of January 6th in which the Three Kings arrive on floats and distribute candy to the children.
