History of Eid ul Fitr in East Timor and How to Celebrate/ Observe It
Eid ul Fitr is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The day of Eid, therefore, falls on the first day of the month of Shawwal. On Eid morning, Muslims wake up early and perform a special prayer called Salat al-Eid. They then give a donation to the poor, known as Zakat al-Fitr.
