History of Epiphany in Austria and How to Celebrate/ Observe It
Epiphany in Austria is celebrated on January 6th and is also known as Three Kings’ Day. This holiday commemorates the day when the three wise men, or Magi, visited the baby Jesus. In Austria, children often leave their shoes out on the night of January 5th in hopes that the Three Kings will bring them gifts. On Epiphany morning, families attend church services and then enjoy a festive meal together. The meal typically includes a special type of bread called “Bethlehem Bread” which is decorated with a baby Jesus figure.
