History of Fathers’ Day in The Bahamas and How to Celebrate/ Observe It

In The Bahamas, Father’s Day has been celebrated since the early 1970s. The holiday was first introduced by Rev. Rudolph N. Johnson, who was the pastor of St. Agnes Anglican Church. He got the idea from a sermon he heard while attending a church conference in the United States. When he returned to The Bahamas, he shared his idea with other clergymen and they decided to start celebrating Father’s Day. The first Father’s Day service was held on June 17, 1973, at St. Agnes Anglican Church.
Since then, Father’s Day has become a popular holiday in The Bahamas. Many businesses offer special deals and discounts on this day, and many schools hold events or programs to honor fathers.
