History of Flag Day in Peru and How to Celebrate/ Observe It

Peru’s Flag Day is celebrated on June 7th. It commemorates the country’s independence from Spain, which was declared on that date in 1821. The flag of Peru consists of three vertical stripes of equal width, with the red stripe being closest to the flagpole. In the center of the flag is a white crescent moon and a white star, both of which are surrounded by a green wreath. The flag’s colors represent the following: red for the blood shed during the country’s struggle for independence, white for peace and purity, and green for hope and fertility.
