The United Nations Peacekeeping force was created in 1948, after the end of the Second World War. The first UN peacekeeping mission was in the Congo in 1960. Since then, UN peacekeepers have been deployed to over 70 countries. They have helped to bring peace to war-torn regions and have assisted in the delivery of humanitarian aid.
