History of Labour Day in Uganda and How to Celebrate/ Observe It
The first Monday in May is a public holiday in Uganda, known as Labour Day. It is a day to celebrate the achievements of workers and to recognise their contribution to the country. On this day, trade unions hold marches and rallies to raise awareness of workers’ rights and to call for better working conditions. The government also uses Labour Day to promote job creation and to encourage investment in the economy. This holiday was first introduced in Uganda in 1995, and has been celebrated annually since then.
