History of National Scotch Day and How to Celebrate/ Observe It

National Scotch Day is a day to celebrate the whisky of Scotland. It is observed on July 27th. This date was chosen because it is the birthday of Alexander Walker, the creator of Johnnie Walker.

Scotch whisky is made from malted barley, water, and yeast. The barley is first germinated in water, then dried in a kiln. Next, it is ground into a powder and mixed with hot water to create a mash. The mash is then fermented with yeast to create a beer. The beer is then distilled to create the whisky.

Scotch whisky must be aged in oak barrels for at least three years. The longer it is aged, the more smooth and complex the flavor will be.

There are four main types of scotch whisky: single malt, single grain, blended malt, and blended grain. Single malt whisky is made from 100% malted barley and distilled in pot stills. Single grain whisky is made from grains other than barley, such as wheat or corn. It is distilled in column stills. Blended malt whisky is made from a mixture of single malt whiskies. Blended grain whisky is made from a mixture of single grain whiskies.

On National Scotch Day, people celebrate by enjoying a glass of their favorite scotch whisky.
