History of New Year in Kyrgyzstan and How to Celebrate/ Observe It
In Kyrgyzstan, New Year is celebrated on the first day of the month of Mairam, which falls on March 21st. This date marks the start of the spring equinox, and is a time of rebirth and new beginnings.
On New Year’s Eve, families gather together to enjoy a feast and exchange gifts. The next morning, people visit their neighbors and friends to wish them a happy New Year. In the evening, there is a special ceremony called the “New Year’s Tree Lighting”, where a tree is decorated with lights and candles. This is followed by a firework display.
