In Mexico, New Year’s Eve is known as “Nochevieja” or “Año Nuevo.” The celebration typically starts with a large feast, followed by fireworks at midnight. Families often stay up late into the night, chatting and enjoying each other’s company.
Mexicans also have a tradition of eating 12 grapes at midnight – one for each month of the upcoming year. This is said to bring good luck. Other common New Year’s Eve activities include attending parties, dancing and drinking champagne.
