In Estonia, Resistance Day is celebrated on February 24th. This date marks the anniversary of the Estonian Declaration of Independence, which was made in 1918. The day is also known as “Eesti Vabariigi aastapäev”, which means “Estonian Republic Day”.
On this day, Estonians remember those who fought for their country’s independence, as well as those who have died defending Estonia since then. A moment of silence is observed at noon, and wreaths are laid at the Monument of the War of Independence in Tallinn. A military parade is also held in the capital city.
