Let's dive deeper into learning more about the history of World Stationery Day and why people celebrate or observe it.

History of World Stationery Day and How to Celebrate/ Observe It

World Stationery Day is a day to celebrate and promote the use of stationery. It is celebrated on the first Wednesday of May each year. The day was founded in 2013 by the London-based company Bureau Direct.

The aim of World Stationery Day is to encourage people of all ages to use stationery more often, whether it’s for writing letters, taking notes, or creating art. The day also celebrates the craftsmanship and design that goes into making quality stationery.

Bureau Direct organises various events and activities to mark World Stationery Day each year. These have included letter-writing workshops, exhibitions, and competitions.

In 2017, the theme of World Stationery Day was ‘handwritten’, to promote the benefits of writing by hand. This included a campaign called #WriteMore, which encouraged people to share photos and stories about why they love to write by hand.
