CARICOM Day is celebrated every year on July 4 in Guyana. The day commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas, which established the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
The treaty was signed by the Heads of Government of Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago on July 4, 1973. The four countries were the founding members of CARICOM.
Since then, CARICOM has grown to include 14 member states. The organization promotes economic integration and cooperation among its member states.
