The second day of Carnival in Grenada is called J’ouvert, which means “open” in French. J’ouvert is a street party that starts at dawn and lasts until midday. revellers wear costumes and paint their bodies with mud or oil. The streets are filled with music and dancing, and there is a parade of floats. J’ouvert is followed by a day of rest, before the main Carnival celebrations begin on the third day.
