National Donut Day is a holiday that is celebrated in the United States on the first Friday of June. The holiday was created by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. National Donut Day is now also used to raise awareness and funds for the Salvation Army’s social service programs.
