National Pet Rock Day was created in 2001 by two animal lovers, Jennifer and Pete Nelson, as a way to celebrate the special bond between humans and animals. The Nelsons chose August 1st as National Pet Rock Day because it’s the anniversary of the day their first pet rock, Rocky, came into their lives.
Pets provide us with unconditional love and companionship, and they enrich our lives in so many ways. They make us laugh, help us relax, and provide us with endless hours of fun and enjoyment. Pets also teach us responsibility, compassion, and patience.
