Chileans celebrate New Year’s Eve (Nochevieja) with a large feast. The traditional dish is lechón, a roasted suckling pig. Chileans also eat a type of fried dough called sopaipillas and drink chicha, a sweetened fermented corn beverage. At midnight, Chileans toast the New Year with a glass of champagne.
