History of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Chile and How to Celebrate/ Observe It

The Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Chile is a Marian apparition that occurred on July 16, 1871. The Virgin Mary appeared to two young girls, Rosa M. Varela and Francisca Valdés, in the small town of Viluco. She asked them to pray the Rosary and to build a chapel in her honor.

The girls shared their vision with the local priest, who was initially skeptical but later became a believer. Construction of the Chapel of Our Lady of Mount Carmel began in 1872 and was completed in 1874.

The apparition of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is considered to be miraculous because it led to the conversion of many people in the town, including the priest. The chapel has become a place of pilgrimage for Catholics from all over Chile.
