History of Shab e-Meraj in Pakistan and How to Celebrate/ Observe It
The night of the 27th of Rajab is known as Shab-e-Miraj, which commemorates the night when the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was taken on a journey from Makkah to Jerusalem and then to heaven. This event is mentioned in the Quran in Surah Al-Israa.
The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was sleeping in the Ka’bah when he was visited by the angel Gabriel. Gabriel took him on a journey from Makkah to Jerusalem, where they prayed together at the Sacred Mosque. From there, they ascended to heaven, where the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) met other prophets and was given instructions on the number of daily prayers.
The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) then returned to Makkah, and the event is celebrated each year on the night of the 27th of Rajab.
