Sukkot, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles, is an important Jewish holiday that celebrates the fall harvest. It is observed for seven days, beginning on the 15th day of the month of Tishrei. Jews build sukkahs, temporary dwellings covered with branches and leaves, in which they eat, sleep, and spend time with family and friends during the holiday. On the eighth day of Sukkot, a separate holiday called Simchat Torah is celebrated, marking the end of the annual cycle of reading the Torah.
