History of June Solstice in Costa Rica and How to Celebrate/ Observe It

The June solstice occurs when the sun is directly overhead at the Tropic of Cancer. This happens at the moment the Earth’s axial tilt is farthest away from the sun, which is why it’s the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest day of the year in the Southern Hemisphere. In Costa Rica, this means that the sun will be directly overhead at noon on the solstice. The days leading up to the solstice will be progressively longer, and the days after the solstice will be progressively shorter.
