Mother’s Day is a relatively new holiday in Canada. It was first celebrated in 1908, when Annie Webb Blaine, a mother of 12 from St. Thomas, Ontario, organized a event to honour mothers. The event was so successful that it became an annual tradition. In 1914, the Canadian government declared Mother’s Day a national holiday.
