History of New Year’s Day (day 2) in Azerbaijan and How to Celebrate/ Observe It
New Year’s Day, or Novruz Bayram, is the most important holiday in Azerbaijan. It is celebrated on March 21st, the first day of spring. Families get together and cook traditional dishes, exchange gifts, and visit each other’s homes. The holiday lasts for seven days, and each day has its own special meaning. On the second day of Novruz, people visit the graves of their ancestors and pay respects to them. This day is also known as “Martyr’s Day” because it commemorates those who have died for Azerbaijan.
