Victory and Peace Day is a public holiday in Armenia, commemorating the end of the Nagorno-Karabakh War. It is celebrated on May 9th.
The Nagorno-Karabakh War was fought from 1988 to 1994 between the Republic of Armenia and the Azerbaijan Republic over the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. The war ended with a ceasefire agreement, which resulted in the de facto independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
