History of International Women’s Day in Singapore and How to Celebrate/ Observe It

International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on 8 March. The day recognises the achievements of women around the world, while also calling for greater gender equality.

In Singapore, IWD is an opportunity to celebrate the progress made by women in Singapore, as well as to reaffirm our commitment to empower women and promote gender equality.

This year’s IWD theme is “Choose To Challenge”. We invite everyone to take action and pledge to challenge stereotypes, biases, and inequalities that stand in the way of progress for women.

On this day, we also remember the many women who have fought for our rights and continue to do so. We pay tribute to their courage and determination, and reaffirm our commitment to build a society where everyone can enjoy equal opportunities regardless of gender.
