Naraka Chaturdashi, also known as Kali Chaudas or Choti Diwali, is a Hindu festival observed on the second day of Deepavali. It is believed that on this day, Lord Krishna destroyed the demon king Narakasura. The festival is celebrated with great fervour in South India, where it is also known as Naraka Chaturdashi. People start their day by taking a holy bath, praying to the gods and goddesses and lighting lamps. In the evening, they dress up in new clothes and exchange gifts with family and friends. Firecrackers are also burst to ward off evil spirits.
