In France, New Year’s Eve is known as “le reveillon de Saint-Sylvestre.” Families and friends gather together to enjoy a special meal and stay up late to celebrate the new year. At midnight, everyone kisses and hugs each other while singing “Auld Lang Syne.” They also drink champagne and eat cake. Fireworks are usually set off at midnight as well.
